The vehicle was heading north on Wednesday, Oct. 11 when the driver began suffering a medical emergency, causing him to run off the road in Stafford County near mile post 146, Virginia State Police said.

The vehicle struck a guardrail and the driver was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he died.

Several hundred bags of concrete spilled into the roadway and blocked several travel lanes. All northbound travel lanes were blocked for approximately one hour for the investigation and cleanup.
